Numbing The Pain

from American Artifact by Brothers Lazaroff

/

lyrics

I’m not singing, I’m not laughing.
Can’t celebrate in this domain.
The candles blew out while we were numbing the pain.

Smokes descending, flames climbing.
Before our eyes, we see it plain.
But we’ve gone blind from just numbing the pain.

My tears fall down like rain.
Twilight sets in.
Tried not too complain.
No one hears at all.

Waters rising, babies crying.
Still some sit back and sip champagne.
And toast the spoils from us numbing the pain.

I wish I could explain.
And scrub it all away.
Wash away the stain.
Slowly put it down.

Pressure’s mounting, moments building.
Hold your breath and watch in vain.
As things explode while we’re numbing the pain.
